Worms and caterpillars in our apples

We love eating apples.
They are good for us and keep us healthy.
Not these apples though.
These ones have worms or caterpillars in them.
Yuck!

Musical trains

We had fun clapping along with chugga and chooo
to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle.
Some of us are very good at getting the patterns right.

Making kites

We made kites in school today.
We started off with a rectangular piece of paper.
We folded down a triangle, then cut off the spare little rectangle.
We ended up with a square or a diamond.
Teacher helped us put on the skewers to make the kite nice and strong.
We loved choosing tails.
Here are our finished kites.
We can't wait to fly them on our next sunny but windy day.
It was a lovely sunny, windy day.
Perfect weather for flying kites.
It is so lucky that we made lovely kites this week.
We got a chance to fly them.
Such fun!

Billy's bucket

We are reading a fantastic book about Billy's bucket.
We are also having fun with drama based on this story.

In one scenario teacher was Billy and we were his parents.
Billy wanted a bucket for his birthday present and we had to try to put him off.
In the next scenario we were all buckets in the bucket shop and we each had to try and persuade Billy that we were the best bucket to pick.  Billy in our class finally chose a glow in the dark bucket. How cool!
In our last scenario Billy looked into his bucket and could see right down to the bottom of the ocean.
We all had a look in Billy's bucket and we told teacher what each of us could see.
We love this story.
More drama from our story:

Fruit and vegetable baskets

We have started painting our fruit and vegetable baskets.
They will look so good when they are finished.

Drawing birds

Thank you so much Tom for visiting our class recently. Tom showed us some great origami birds and then told us lots and lots of interesting facts about birds.
We learned about the biggest bird in the world and the biggest in Ireland, the smallest birds, the birds with the longest wingspan, the birds with the biggest and smallest eggs, the birds who can fly the fastest, dive the fastest, tallest birds and lots more.
We were shown how to draw birds, how birds catch and eat mice, what might be in an owl's pellet and what different birds sound like.
We had a fantastic morning with Tom and we learned so much today.
We are all so interested in birds after Tom's talk today.
Thank you so much Tom!

Here we are drawing a bird, after Tom's workshop

Finger printing ants

We love the ants that visit us in our classroom.
We are learning songs about the ants and we have heard stories about the ants.
Today we printed pictures of ants climbing their ant hills.
We hope the ants like their pictures!
Here are some stories and songs about ants.
