Hallowe'en gallery walk

We took a tour of a wonderful local art gallery (the corridors of our school).
The pictures were wonderful and we loved our tour of the artwork in the school.

Making clay spiders

We rolled balls of clay, then pressed them between our hands.
We added eyes and used a pencil to draw a nose (and a mouth for some).
We added 4 pairs of legs (that's 8 legs in all, and the reason a spider is not an insect......all insects have 6 legs!)
We can't wait to paint them when they are dry.

Skeletons

We know lots about the skeleton (creatlach as Gaeilge).
We even know a great song and dance about skeletons.
Look at the wonderful skeletons we made.

Baboró

We went on a bus today to the Town Hall. We went to see Little Red Riding Hood. The story was about two children who were arguing who would play the role of the wolf. The music, lights and acting was really good. We really enjoyed our day out.

Hallowe'en

We are getting ready for Hallowe'en in Room 1. We have made our classroom really scary. We made some spiders using our fingerprint. We also printed some pumpkins using apples. Have a look.

Marbling ink art

Jingle jangle scarecrows

We talked about the Scarecrow. He has an important job to look after all the crops, fruit and vegetables for the farmer. Then Jingle Jangle Scarecrow with his flippy floppy head. We made a Scarecrow in Art. He used lots of fabric and fibre to make our own Scarecrows.

Autumn trees

As it is Autumn the leaves are turning yellow, brown, red and orange. They are beginning to fall down on the ground. They make a nice crunching sound under our feet. We painted some Autumn trees and we sponge painted on the leaves.

Making hedgehogs

Autumn is here and the animals are busy preparing for the Winter and some animals are migrating. Today we made some clay hedgehogs. The hedgehog curls into a ball when he is scared. His prickly spines help to protect him. He likes to eat worms and bugs. We made our hedgehogs from clay and matchsticks and then we let them curl up in the Autumn leaves.
