Trip to our art gallery, senior infants

Monday, September 27th, 2010
We painted bins today. They look so nice. This is to tie in with our talks about recycling. Tomorrow (hopefully) we'll cut them out, put rubbish in them and put them on backing paper. They will look so nice. Keep an eye out for an update on this!
The bins are painted, and filled with rubbish. Teacher hung lots of our art in the corridor just outside the classroom. When she was done, our class went on a trip - to the art gallery (the corridor) where we had fun looking at the artwork, and admiring our own. It felt like a trip to a real gallery, and we felt very famous with our artwork on show!

Autumn art, Junior Infants

We painted some Autumn Trees and we used Peter Pointer to print the leaves. We used the colours red, yellow, orange and brown for the leaves. Look at our trees. They are now hanging outside our classroom for everyone to see. Harry the Hedgehog is very busy during Autumn too. He likes to rustle in the leaves and eat worms....but watch out for his prickly spikes. The Hedgehog has spikes everywhere on his body except for his face, legs and stomach. We are going to learn a song about the Harry the Hedgehog this week.We were very clever and we used our hands to print his spikes.

Harry Hedgehog, Junior Infants

We have been busy learning all about Autumn. We learned about the animals who are getting ready for their long sleep. We painted pictures of Harry hedgehog. Our hands got very sticky adding the spikes to Harry's back.

Art in September, Junior Infants

Here is some of the art we have completed. We painted Humpty Dumpty in our first week at school. We sponge painted some sponge snails. We used sponges with different colours and we sponged around a template of the snail.

Music time, Junior Infants

We love singing songs in Room 1. We play instruments as we sing. This week we played the triangle, drums, tambourine, shakers, and bells. We sang our nursey rhymes as we played.

Sticks pictures, Senior Infants

Circus paintings, Senior Infants

We have been speaking about the circus in school recently. The children did different circus acts to music - tigers jumping through hoops, acrobats, trapeze swingers, tightrope walkers and juggling clowns. Then they painted their favourite circus acts. They came up with some very interesting things - including human canonballs!

Our autumn paintings, Senior Infants

We used the leaves we gathered to make pretty Autumn pictures. The children used sponges and whatever colours they liked to paint the background and then did leaf prints on top of that. The end result was lovely.

Bertie the Yellow Bus

Friday, September 10th, 2010

He's Bertie the yellow bus

On his way to collect us

He'll chug along

As we sing our song

He's Bertie the yellow bus.

We painted Bertie the yellow bus, and we stuck on his windows, doors, wheels, and of course his big smiley face. He is a school bus and he is very happy to be carrying lots of happy children. We will be talking next week all about buses, bus drivers, how to get to school safely, and safety on the bus, and in cars. Please talk to your children about road and traffic safety - it reinforces all we do at school. Thanks!
